Q: What does MRI stand for?
A: Its stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Q: Where are you currently located?
A: We are located on the corner of Oswell and Bernard @ 2601 Oswell Street Suite 101 in Bakersfield California, 93306.
Q: What is a PA...and does your office have any PA's?
A: A physician assistant, or PA, is a licensed and highly skilled health care professional, trained to provide patient evaluation, education, and health care services. A PA works with a physician to provide medical care and guidance needed by a patient. A PA performs many diagnostic, preventative, and health maintenance services. Among our providers at BNSI, we currently have one PA: Weiss Moshref (PA).
Q: What is a CT scan?
A: A CT (computerised tomography) scan is a special kind of X-ray technique. Instead of sending out a single X-ray through your body as with ordinary X-rays, several beams are sent simultaneously from different angles to produce an image.
Q: What is an EEG and why is an EEG performed?
A: The EEG is a graphic record of the electrical activity of the brain as recorded by an electroencephalograph. This test is also called encephalogram.
Brain electrical activity is most abnormal during seizures, so the EEG is commonly used in evaluation of people with epilepsy.
EEG, electroencephalography, is the recording of voltages from the brain. In special circumstances, the recording can be done directly from the brain surface, but normally electrodes on the scalp are used.
The voltage amplitudes are small, typically in the range of tens of microvolts. They are thought to be caused by synchronized activity in very large numbers of synapses in the cerebral cortex. The "centre of synchronization" is somewhere deep in the thalamus or brain stem, but EEG gives only indirect information about those regions.
Q: Can I make an appointment without ever being seen by a physician in your office?
A: To make an appointment at BNSI, you must be referred by your primary care physician. This is a specialty practice and walkins are uncommon unless it is a special circumstance where you are self-referred.
Q: How do I refill my prescription without coming into your office? or even calling your office?
A: All prescription refills should be requested by calling your pharmacy, not us. The pharmacy will then contact our office and it will be taken care of accordingly. You should keep in mind it takes approximately 3 days for refills to get processed so keep track of our medication amounts at all times.
